I have a digital scale, but it tends to get kicked to different areas of my uneven hardwood bedroom floor.

Weight: 207.5
BMI: 35.42 (obese)

I've read discussions on why or why not BMI is accurate. I agree that it's probably way off for children or extremely fit people. Surprise, that's not me! I can't even run down the end of my block without feeling like death. That will change. The Fit asked me to set a goal...I poked in 22 lbs in 3 months. However, I don't feel bound by that. I'll be happy if it happens, but what I really want is to be in good shape in December 2011. I need to fit into a bridesmaid's dress, and be prepared to face the cameras (horrors!)

Diving In

I'm not big-boned, I'm not pleasingly plump - I'm fat. I'm a size 18, 38D, XL. I don't hate myself. The self-esteem is for the most part just fine. I'm smart, fun, considerate, have a terrific kooky family...I could go on, but why sound like Stuart Smalley? The point is, life is pretty good for me, but I am uncomfortable with my weight and my size.

I have friends who are fat and positive about it (some militantly) and I'm ok with them being fat and enjoying it. Good on them. This blog is not out to attack fat people, or perpetuate the myth that sharp collarbones are sexy or any of that. It's all about how I want a bathing suit that fits properly, no cankles at the end of the day, being able to put on my rings and cute boots that have been languishing in the closet for years. It's about how when I go over 200 lbs, my left knee gets angry.

So much to say - more later.
